Experiences on reclaiming under this scheme might be valuable to all. The scheme is well described on the site:

I am not sure sure if this is the same scheme or not but when St Andrews, Oddington incurred over £30,000 on repairs to the church over 2-3 years we successfully reclaimed over £3500 in VAT. This was received by way of grant from the Listed Places of Worship Scheme - follow the link below
http://www.lpwscheme.org.uk/ or if it is unlinked copy and paste it into your browser address box for more information. The forms required are all downloadable from the website and relatively straightforward. They require the original invoices in support of the claims.

In the event the costs were spread over three years, initially just architects and surveyors fees, and I ended up submitting two claims, the second being supplementary to the first.
