We have a family in church which is currently suffering financial hardship due to redundancy and we (PCC) want to give them a gift of money.

Does anyone know if there are any rules or guidelines (e.g. from the Charity Commission) we need to follow when doing this.

Specifically:
1) Is it acceptable to make gifts of money in this way (of the order of £200) out of our General Fund?...
2) Are there any restrictions on who can receive such gifts (e.g. not to PCC members)...
3) How much information about such gifts should be recorded in the church accounts (e.g. do we need to explicitly record amounts/recipients?)...
4) Are there any tax/gift-aid issues if the recipient has made gift-aided donations to the church in the past?...

Any advice gratefully received.
